This is a calcium and vitamin D3 supplement made from calcium carbonate derived from coral. The chemical structure of coral calcium carbonate is extremely similar to the chemical structure of human bone. Coral Calcium is comparable to other calcium sources, however it has a higher absorption rate. Vitamin D3 increases calcium absorption from the GI tract and helps the body maintain calcium equilibrium.
One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by the physician. Taking in full stomach ensures better absorption.
Tetracycline and fluoride preparations are affected by oral calcium, thus a minimum of 3 hours should pass between ingestions of these medications. Calcium excretion in the kidneys is reduced by thiazide diuretics. Vitamin D3 metabolism can be induced by phenytoin, barbiturates, and glucocorticoids. Certain foods, such as spinach, cereals, milk, and its derivatives, may limit calcium absorption in the intestine when consumed together.
Hypersensitivity to any of the components, hypocalcemia due to Vitamin D3 overload, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, severe renal insufficiency, severe hypercalciuria, renal calculi, and other conditions.
Flatulence, diarrhoea, constipation, upper GI discomfort, and other symptoms are unusual. Hypercalcemia as a result of prolonged use has only been observed in a few cases.
On a doctor's recommendation, this can be administered to pregnant and lactating moms.
In the event of mild hypercalciuria, close monitoring and dose decrease may be required. In mild to severe renal impairment, as well as in the case of long-term use, the plasma and serum calcium levels should be monitored. Patients with kidney stones or a history of similar problems should also be cautious.
