Potassium Citrate + Citric Acid
This preparation is indicated for the following:
The oral solution of citric acid of potassium and citric acid is a stable and pleasant systemic systemic alkali agent. Citric potassium acid is absorbed by potassium of magnetic acid, and it is a resin and serves as a whole alkaline agent. This product does not produce systemic alkalia with the recommended capacity, but the urine is alkalized. Although it has been administered for a long time, it is a very delicious tasting and tolerance. Citric potassium acid does not interfere with the above juice or dismissal.
To relieve discomfort in UTI:
Adults and children over 6 years: 10 ml 3 times daily, diluted with 1 glass of water.
Children 1-6 years: 5 ml 3 times daily, diluted with ½ glass of water.
To prevent kidney stones, With a uricosuric agent to prevent gout, Acidosis caused by kidney diseases:
Adults: 10-15 ml 4 times daily (or as directed by the physician) diluted with 1 glass of water.
Pediatric: 5-10 ml 4 times daily (or as directed by the physician) diluted with ½ glass of water.
Concurrent administration of potassium-containing medication, potassium-sparing diuretics, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or cardiac glycosides may lead to toxicity.
The drug is contraindicated for severe kidney damage accompanied by oliguria or azotemia, untreated Addison's disease, acute dehydration, severe myocardial damage, and hyperkalemia for any reason.
When administered to patients with normal kidney function and urine output at the recommended dose, the solution is generally well tolerated without unpleasant side effects. However, like any alkalizing agent, certain patients with abnormal kidney function should be used with caution to avoid hyperkalemia or alkalosis. Potassium poisoning can cause listlessness, weakness, confusion, tingling in the extremities, and other symptoms related to high serum potassium levels.
No information is available regarding the use of this drug during pregnancy and lactation.
The solution should be used with caution in patients with poor urine output. It should be sufficiently diluted with water to minimize the possibility of gastrointestinal injury associated with oral administration of concentrated potassium salt preparations; and it is best to take each dose after a meal. Large doses can cause hyperkalemia and alkalosis, especially in the presence of kidney disease.
