Indications of Coxitor 90

Osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis, and the pain and symptoms of inflammation associated with acute gouty arthritis are all treated with etoricoxib.

For the management of moderate discomfort caused by dental surgery in the short term.

 

Pharmaceutical Name of Coxitor 90

Pharmacology

Within and significantly above the clinical dose range, etoricoxib is a potent, orally active cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor. Cyclooxygenase has two isoforms: cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) (COX-2). COX-1 is responsible for normal physiologic functions mediated by prostaglandins, such as gastric cytoprotection and platelet aggregation.

 

Dosage & Administration

Some patients may require additional analgesia after surgery. Because Etoricoxib's cardiovascular risks increase with dose and duration of exposure, the shortest possible duration and lowest effective daily dose should be used. Especially in patients with osteoarthritis, the patient's need for symptomatic relief and response to therapy should be re-evaluated on a regular basis.

 

Interaction of Coxitor 90

Following surgery, some patients may require additional analgesia. Because the cardiovascular risks of Etoricoxib increase with dose and exposure time, the shortest duration and lowest effective daily dose should be used. The patient's need for symptomatic relief and response to therapy, particularly in patients with osteoarthritis, should be re-evaluated on a regular basis.

 

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any excipient.
• Active peptic ulceration or bleeding in the gastro-intestinal tract (Gl).
• Patients who developed bronchospasm, acute rhinitis, nasal polyps, angioneurotic oedema, urticaria, or allergic reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or NSAIDs containing COX-2 inhibitors.
• Lactation and pregnancy.

 

Side Effect of Coxitor 90

Palpitation, fatigue, influenza-like symptoms, and ecchymosis are common side effects; less commonly, dry mouth, taste disturbance, mouth ulcer, appetite and weight change, atrial fibrillation, transient ischaemic attack, chest pain, flushing, cough, dyspnoea, epistaxis, anxiety, mental acuity impairment, paraesthesia, electrolyte disturbance, myalgia, and arthralgia; and very rarely, confusion.

Antihistamines that do not cause drowsiness

 

Precautions & Warnings

• The elderly, patients taking any other NSAID or acetylsalicylic acid concurrently, or patients with a prior history of gastrointestinal disease, such as ulceration and Gl bleeding, should be treated with caution when taking NSAIDs.
• Patients with significant cardiovascular risk factors (e.g., hypertension).
