Fusidic acid and hydrocodisone is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderately severe atopic dermalitis where Staph aureus is suspected as a contributing factor.
Fusidic Acid BP 2 percent & Hydrocortisone Acetate BP 1 percent combo cream combines Fusidic Acid's powerful topical antibacterial action with Hydrocortisone Acetate's anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic properties. Fusidic Acid is efficient against Staphylococci, Streptococci, Corynebacteria, Neisseria, and some Clostridia and Bacteroides when applied topically. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that inhibits the synthesis of proteins in microorganisms. By stabilizing the ribosome-guanosine diphosphate elongation factor G-complex, it disrupts the translocation stage. This prevents aminoacyl t-RNA from binding to the ribosome and, as a result, prevents more amino acids from being transferred to the developing polypeptide. Hydrocortisone is the most common naturally occurring glucocorticosteroid in humans. Its major activity in pharmaceutical dosage is to diminish the skin's sensitivity to damage (i.e. anti-in ammatory). It also possesses anti-mitotic and immunosuppressive properties.
Adults: This Cream should be applied 3 times daily and gently massaged onto the affected areas for 2 weeks. A shorter course should be considered if symptoms improve.
Children: It is not recommended in children under 3 years of age.

Dryness, itching, burning, local irritation, striae, skin atrophy, atrophy of subcutaneous tissues, telangiectasia, hypertrichosis, and changes in pigmentation are examples of adverse effects.
It is unknown whether Fusidic Acid and/or topical Hydrocortisone Acetate are safe to use during pregnancy or lactation. The possible benefits of using this cream during pregnancy or lactation must be evaluated against the dangers to the fetus or nursing infant.
Fusidic Acid and Hydrocortisone Acetate should not be used in or near the eye because Fusidic Acid can induce conjunctival irritation. Insufficient absorption may occur when administered beneath occlusive dressings, across large areas, or on the face, scalp, axillae, and scrotum, resulting in adrenal suppression and other systemic consequences.
