Lacidipine
Lacidipine is used to treat hypertension, either alone or in conjunction with other antihypertensive medications such as ß-blockers, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and so on.
Lacidipine reduces calcium influx into smooth muscle cells by competitively inhibiting voltage-dependent calcium 'L' channels. This action inhibits the actions caused by calcium influx into the cells, such as the activation of contractile proteins in smooth muscle.
The recommended initial dose of Lacidipine is 2 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 4 mg and then, if necessary, to 6 mg after 3 to 4 weeks. Lacidipine should be taken preferably in the morning.
Lacidipine plasma concentrations can be raised by taking cimetidine at the same time. In trials with common antihypertensive medications, as well as digoxin, tolbutamide, and warfarin, no particular pharmacodynamic interaction issues were discovered.
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in this product, cardiogenic shock, unstable angina, aortic stenosis, avoid within one month of a myocardial infarction, impaired left ventricular function.
Lacidipine is well tolerated in most people. Minor side effects may include flushing, palpitation, edema, headache, dizziness, and, in rare cases, gastro-intestinal disturbances, gum hyperplasia, mood changes, asthenia, polyuria, muscular cramps, skin rash, and so on.
Lacidipine has not been studied for its safety in human pregnancy. In animal studies, there is no indication of a teratogenic impact of lisinopril.
Lactation: Lacidipine (or its metabolites) are likely to be excreted in breast milk, according to animal milk transfer studies. Lacidipine, on the other hand, has no clinical expertise in pregnancy or lactation. Lacidipine, as a result, should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Cardiac conduction anomalies, low cardiac reserves, hepatic impairment; discontinue if ischemia discomfort starts soon after starting therapy or if cardiogenic shock develops; avoid grapefruit juice.
