Indications of Mydipin 5

Pharmacology

Cilnidipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. Cilnidipine binds to the dihydropyridine binding sites of the L-type pressure channel and inhibits Ca2+ flow across the cell membrane of vascular smooth muscle cells through this channel, resulting in vascular smooth muscle relaxation, causing vasodilation. . Cilnidipine inhibits Ca2+ currents via potentiometric-evaluated N-type calcium channels in sympathetic neuronal membranes. Inhibition of Ca2+ currents via N-type voltage potential calcium channels was observed at a range of drug concentrations similar to those of L-type Ca2+ channel blockers. Thus, the release of norepinephrine by the terminals Sympathetic nerves will be inhibited. . Cilnidipine is considered to block the reflex increase in heart rate following a decrease in blood pressure.

 

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 5-10 mg once daily after breakfast. Maximum dose: 20 mg once daily.

Pediatric use: The safety of Cilnidipine in pediatric patients has not been established.

Elderly use: Since the elderly may be more susceptible to hypotension, therapy should be initiated with the lowest possible dose (5 mg).

 

Interaction of Mydipin 5

Other anti-hypertensive, antipsychotics that cause hypotension, quinidine, carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampicin, cimetidine, erythromycin.

 

Contraindications

Cilnidipine is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to Cilnidipine or any of the excipients or patients having cardiogenic shock, recent MI or acute unstable angina and severe aortic stenosis.

 

Side Effects of Mydipin 5

The most common side effects of cilnidipine are: hot flashes; headache; low blood pressure; peripheral edema; palpitations; digestive disorders; increased frequency of urination; comatose; eyesore; Depression.

 

Pregnancy & Lactation

Women who are or may become pregnant should not take Cilnidipine. Cilnidipine should also be avoided by nursing mothers. However, if medication is necessary, the patient should discontinue nursing.

 

Precautions & Warnings

Cilnidipine should be used with caution in the following patients: patients with severe hepatic impairment, patients with a history of serious adverse events with calcium antagonists. During discontinuation, the dose should be gradually reduced under close supervision.
