Cinidipine is suitable for the treatment of high blood pressure to protect the end organs. It is reported to be useful for elderly patients as well as patients with diabetes and proteinuria. Cinidipine has been increasingly used in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Hypertension is a term used to describe the presence of hypertension. Blood pressure is produced by the force of the blood pumped by the heart on the blood vessels. Therefore, high blood pressure occurs when the blood vessel pressure is too high, and this effect can damage the blood vessels.

Cinidipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. Cinidipine binds to the dihydropyridine binding site of the L-type voltage-gated calcium channel and inhibits Ca2 + entry across the cell membrane of vascular smooth muscle cells through the channel, thereby relaxing the vascular smooth muscle and causes vasodilation. Cilnidipine inhibits Ca2 + entry through N-type voltage-gated calcium channels in the membrane of the sympathetic nerve cell. Inhibition of Ca2 + entry by N-type voltage-gated calcium channels was observed in a drug concentration range similar to the drug concentration range that inhibits L-type voltage-gated Ca2 + channels. Therefore, inhibits the release of norepinephrine from sympathetic nerve endings. Cinidipine is believed to inhibit the increase in reflex heart rate following a decrease in blood pressure.
Adults: 5-10 mg once daily after breakfast. Maximum dose: 20 mg once daily.
Pediatric use: The safety of Cilnidipine in pediatric patients has not been established.
Elderly use: Since the elderly may be more susceptible to hypotension, therapy should be initiated with the lowest possible dose (5 mg).
Other antihypertensive and hypotensive antipsychotics, quinidine, carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampin, cimetidine, erythromycin.
Patients who are known to be sensitive to cilnidipine or any excipients or those who have cardiogenic shock, recent myocardial infarction or acute unstable angina and severe aortic stenosis should not use cilnidipine.
The most common side effects of cilnidipine are: dizziness, hot flashes, headache, hypotension, peripheral edema, palpitations, gastrointestinal disorders, increased frequency of urination, lethargy, eye pain, depression.
Women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not take cilnidipine. It is also recommended to avoid taking cinidipine to nursing mothers. However, if administration is essential, the patient should be instructed to stop breastfeeding.
Cinidipine should be used with caution in the following patients: patients with severe liver dysfunction, patients with a history of serious adverse reactions to calcium channel blockers. During the withdrawal period, the dose should be gradually reduced under close observation.
