Mervan

Indications

Mervan Tablet is used to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, toothache, trauma, and lumbago.

 

Pharmacology

Mervan is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic medication. It is a strong inhibitor of the cyclooxygenase enzyme, which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins. An unaltered medication is promptly and fully absorbed after oral delivery.

 

Dosage & Administration

Extended release tablet: The recommended dose in adults is one 200 mg Aceclofenac tablet daily or as prescribed by the physician. Film coated tablet: The recommended dose in adults is 100 mg, twice daily.

 

Interaction

Although no major medication interactions have been identified, patients must be closely monitored when using it with:

• Lithium with Digoxin: Lithium and digoxin may raise plasma concentrations.
• Diuretics: Diuretics' action may interact.
• Anticoagulants: Anticoagulants' action may be increased.
• Methotrexate: may raise methotrexate levels in the blood.

 

Contraindications

Aceclofenac is not recommended for individuals who have a known hypersensitivity to it or who have asthma episodes that are exacerbated by aspirin or NSAIDs.

Precautions & Warnings

Patients with actual or suspected peptic ulcers or gastro-intestinal bleeding, moderate to severe hepatic impairment, and cardiac or renal impairment should be treated with caution. Patients experiencing dizziness or urticaria should also be cautious.
